[00:03] [Guest] Welcome to Swinger University, your horizontal enrichment program, offering you the naked
facts about swinging.
Here are your hosts, Ed and Phoebe.

[00:19] [Unknown] Hi, this is Phoebe.

[00:23] [Ed] And this is Ed.

[00:25] [Unknown] Today we’re talking about Bebe or bacterial vaginosis.

[00:31] [Phoebe] It’s a highly transmittable vaginal infection that you don’t want to get while swinging.
This episode covers how to perform the whiff test, BV risks, why it occurs, contributing
factors, things that help, and how to get rid of it.

[00:51] [Ed] Now we understand that this isn’t the most sexy topic, but because it’s real and highly
likely that you’re going to experience this at least once in your swinging adventures.

[01:08] [Unknown] Yes.
We thought it was important.
Exactly.

[01:11] [Phoebe] So, have you ever been to a swing or party?
Been on the bed next to someone and smelled something a little funny?
Like, you know, that fishy smell?
Yeah, may want to perform the whiff test.
Yes.

[01:30] [Ed] And we’ll describe that.

[01:32] [Phoebe] Yeah, all right.
So, how did we navigate this in the beginning?

[01:37] [Unknown] It was a thing.

[01:39] [Ed] It was absolutely a thing and it was annoying.

[01:44] [Unknown] Yeah.
Sorry.
I got it.

[01:49] [Phoebe] It was annoying.
We played with people who had it.
I got rid of it.
We played with people again who had it and so on and so on.
So there’s this cyclical getting it and getting rid of it.
Yeah.
Part of it was the people we were playing with, part of it was I was taking in a histamines,
which was drying me out, which was affecting my pH, was making me more susceptible to
BB and we’ll go into that later.

[02:18] [Unknown] So.

[02:21] [Phoebe] Yeah.
Recovery sucks.
There’s medicine for it.
You can’t have any alcohol for some of the medicine on one of the medicines.
It’s messy.
You can’t have sex.
It’s all around just a pain in the ass.

[02:35] [Ed] Right.
Well, it’s like being on anything, right?
You’re on antibiotics for a period of time.
Yeah.

[02:41] [Phoebe] Oh, yeah.
You can’t have alcohol during that either.

[02:43] [Ed] Yeah.
But just, you got to remember to take it three times a day and it’s a whole regimen and
it’s can’t take it without taking food and, you know, anytime you’re on medication that’s
got drug interactions or side effects or whatever.

[02:58] [Phoebe] It just sucks.
It’s all too routine and all that nonsense.
Yeah.
So I had to educate myself and we now do the whiff test.

[03:11] [Ed] And all right, how did you perform the whiff test the first time?

[03:18] [Phoebe] So the whiff, here’s the whiff test.
So you can perform the whiff test if you get, you know, you can get close to a woman.
You know, if you’re, even if you’re not by, you get close to the woman, touching is
always usually involved woman to woman.
And you know, you could rubber thigh and, you know, it doesn’t really take you, I mean,
you don’t really have to stick your head down there to smell it.
Maybe I have a little bit of a stronger sniffer, a little part dog, but you can pick up on
it.

[03:57] [Ed] I thought I was part dog.

[04:00] [Phoebe] You could pick on it pretty well.

[04:01] [Unknown] I know I’m part cat, yeah.

[04:05] [Phoebe] So you could do that, you know, touching, you know, crossing thighs and stuff, you’ll,

[04:09] [Ed] you’ll be able to, yeah, especially if she’s, if she’s disrobed, if she doesn’t have
clothes on her vagina is exposed.
And she’s probably getting excited, which means she’s getting a little moist, which starts

[04:26] [Phoebe] and air flowing around and all this stuff.
Exactly.

[04:30] [Ed] I know.
And you start to, you start to smell sex and sometimes the smell is, well, yeah, I know,

[04:38] [Phoebe] a smell and not a beautiful, I know, it’s so sad.
One time Ed was fingering a woman and I could smell it on Ed’s fingers when he like came
up to like, caress my face and kiss me and I was like, oh, oh no, no, no, no, I’m
taking a break, bathroom break, ran to the bathroom, washed the hands.

[05:06] [Unknown] I’m like, Ed, take the bathroom break with me.

[05:11] [Ed] Happy birthday song.
Yeah.
So.

[05:14] [Phoebe] Yep.
Scrub the fingers.

[05:16] [Unknown] Yes.
Definitely.

[05:18] [Phoebe] And at the end of this episode, we’re going to talk about how to get rid of all this, how
to get rid of a situation with other people so that you don’t have to hopefully encounter
this pleasant, the cycle, the BV cycle, tunt, tunt, tunt, tunt.

[05:37] [Unknown] Right.

[05:38] [Phoebe] All right.
So, you know, what is it really, it’s, it’s, it’s a vaginal infection.
It’s bacterial vaginosis.
It’s common and it can be caused by bacterial imbalance in the vagina and it’s definite
likely transmittable through sexual contact and it’s, you know, really transmittable.

[06:01] [Ed] Yeah.
So, you can catch it naturally and what happens is through a series of events and we’ll
kind of describe some of that, a woman gets BV, she’s got it.
She basically has a super colony of bacteria going on in her vagina.
Right.
Anything that kind of samples that pool of bacteria can then be passed on to the next
receptive host of bacteria and the China’s are really good environments for bacteria.
There’s lots of good bacteria in there that maintain health but that healthy bacterial
environment will also work for bad bacteria too.

[06:43] [Phoebe] Yep.
Definitely.
So, it’s obviously contagious, it’s hard to get rid of.
I mean, you can get rid of those medicines and things like that but if you’re got, you

[06:55] [Ed] know, but it’s pretty easy to have it start back up because you didn’t quite get rid
of it.
Yes.

[07:03] [Phoebe] Yeah.
Because if you don’t finish your medicine exactly the way you’re supposed to, it’ll flare
up again.
If you play with somebody else that has it, it’ll flare up again.
If you’re on some other medication that’s fucking with your pH, it’ll flare up again.
So it’s really, really annoying.
Your partner can transfer it to you via fingers, mouth, penis, essentially skin to skin contact.
So if you’re playing with a bunch of people on the bed and it’s put his fingers in someone
with BV and he puts them in me, boom, I got it.
And then he puts his fingers in somebody else and then he just spread it everywhere.

[07:47] [Ed] Not a good way to spread the love.

[07:49] [Unknown] No.

[07:50] [Ed] So, wrong kind of spreading.

[07:53] [Phoebe] Yes.

[07:54] [Ed] Spread your legs.
Spread the love, but don’t spread the BV.

[07:59] [Phoebe] Right.
And male sexual partners of these women carry the bacteria in the penis.
So there is evidence of a sexual exchange.
This was some research done by Dr. Jennifer Schuford.
Multiple partners obviously increase your risk too.

[08:20] [Ed] So swinging is a natural environment for this to thrive.

[08:26] [Phoebe] Yes.
Yes.
And it occurs because exposure to any foreign substance can basically throw off your bacterial
balance.
You have this nice, happy balance going on inside your body and your body is, you know,
so regulating, so cleaning and the pH plays in an integral part in that.
And if you get an influx of something that’s different, it can’t bite it or, you know,
your natural pH is off because of other medications or things that you’re eating, doing, taking,
et cetera.

[09:01] [Ed] Right.

[09:02] [Phoebe] So let’s get into that.
Things that contribute to BV.
These do not help and can alter your pH.

[09:11] [Ed] So contributing factors.

[09:14] [Phoebe] Yes.
Medications.
And histamines, which was my big thing.

[09:21] [Ed] Right.
Which we didn’t realize at the time, but an antihistamine basically dries out the mucus
membranes in your nose, among other things, turns out the vagina is it.
So a mucus membrane, so your antihistamines are going to fuck your vagina in not a good

[09:43] [Unknown] way.

[09:44] [Phoebe] Right.
And I was on them every day.
So my seasonal allergies crossed over from once a year seasonal allergies to twice a
year season.
And then pretty much it was just the whole year I’m a seasonal allergy person.
I need them at every day.
And so I was taking every day for a couple of years.
And then I was running into issues combined with playing and then you know the combination.
Birth control pills can, you know, affect your pH and IUD and antibiotics also.
Yes.
And I got the, and a lot of the research that I did is all listed at the bottom of our
podcast.
We’ll put those in the references.
But then just make this stuff up, I did do my homework.

[10:39] [Ed] We’ll pull many things out of our butts, but not a research.

[10:45] [Phoebe] Water consumption, you’re too dehydrated.
So right there, you know, you don’t drink enough water, nobody really does.

[10:52] [Unknown] And you’re taking your antihistamine, bam, don’t deal.

[10:56] [Ed] Too much coffee, not enough water, all of that dehydration.

[11:01] [Phoebe] And protected sex.

[11:03] [Ed] Yeah.
So semen is alkaline and it actually encourages the growth of bacteria.
So anybody who’s playing bear back, you’ve got pre-adjaculate that’s coming out.
You have ejaculate that’s coming out.
So all of that semen is going to throw off a woman’s pH, which is really interesting.

[11:26] [Phoebe] Yeah, this, this I have, well, not while I was swinging.
And when I was younger, and I had a boyfriend, I wasn’t, I wasn’t just sleeping around.
But when I’d go from boyfriend to boyfriend, my body actually got used to the, the, his
semen.
But I noticed every time I went from boyfriend to boyfriend, those first initial times
where we would have sex, I had a flare up of BV.
And I was like, how weird.
And then, you know, my body would kind of resolve it, that was younger.
And actually it just kind of took care of it, but like that next day or so, it smelled
really fishy.
And I was like, oh, and I started to notice this pattern.
So it was like, I’m very pH sensitive.
Right.
And I used to call it a very semen sensitive, because I didn’t know it was a pH thing at

[12:28] [Unknown] the time.

[12:29] [Phoebe] So you can imagine you’re playing bear back with a bunch of people.

[12:35] [Ed] And then you get this.

[12:36] [Phoebe] Yeah.
And you’ve just got everyone’s different, you know, level of alkaline, alkaline semen stuffed
into your vagina.

[12:45] [Unknown] Right.

[12:46] [Phoebe] That sounded so sexy.

[12:50] [Ed] Stick your alkaline in.

[12:52] [Unknown] Stick your alkaline in me, baby.

[12:56] [Phoebe] Looms.
We’ve talked about looms before.
A lot.

[13:00] [Unknown] Yeah.

[13:02] [Phoebe] Anything with sugar, even silicone, definitely the coconut oil will fuck you up.

[13:10] [Ed] Yep.
All changes your pH.

[13:12] [Unknown] Mm-hmm.

[13:14] [Ed] So stick with water-based looms, it’s safer for your toys, and it’s safer for your

[13:20] [Unknown] vagina.

[13:21] [Phoebe] I almost thought you said toes.
Your toes.
Your toes.

[13:25] [Ed] You know, some people are into that.
Or using the toes.

[13:28] [Phoebe] I’ve had someone who wanted me to stick my baby toe in his nose.

[13:35] [Unknown] That too.

[13:38] [Phoebe] It was his kink.

[13:39] [Ed] There you go.

[13:40] [Unknown] It was not mine, so I did not.

[13:46] [Ed] And, you know, speaking of looms, going back to looms, we did a whole podcast on it.
It’s a great podcast.
There’s all kinds of details about lubricants and, you know, osmolality and some fun science
stuff.
So if you like science and you want to talk about sexy loob science, go check that out.

[14:05] [Phoebe] Go check that out.
Yeah.

[14:07] [Unknown] It was really good.
Beware of sharing loops.

[14:13] [Phoebe] You’ve got vagina fingers on the loob bottle container depending on how it’s designed.
So if you’ve got a pump action loob, it’s a little better, but if you’ve got a squeeze

[14:25] [Unknown] bottle loob, and most everyone doesn’t hold the bottle above their hand and squeeze.

[14:32] [Ed] They tend to make the shaft and squeeze.

[14:35] [Unknown] Yeah.

[14:36] [Phoebe] And then they tend to wipe the tip.

[14:40] [Unknown] Yeah.

[14:41] [Phoebe] Wait, that’s the loob, right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Right.
Yeah.
And so then that bacteria gets right into your container.
So we always bring our own loob and use our own loob and I don’t share it.

[14:55] [Ed] I mean, sex is messy to begin with, but to kind of add this.
And we’re not trying to make you guys feel like hypochondri actually worry about all this
time.
Right.

[15:06] [Phoebe] Because we don’t have a good time out there.
We do.
You just have to be a little careful.

[15:09] [Ed] There’s some basic hygiene stuff that you want to do.
Like people should wash their junk before they go to a swing or party.

[15:17] [Phoebe] Right.
And we always wash up before, you know, we switch partners and usually, you know, these
are in hotel rooms and things like that.
So the bathrooms right there.
It’s only like 10 feet away.
Yeah.
So you just stick to clean up a little.
And because we tend to play in groups, there’s so much action going on.
No one really knows.
Everyone’s always taking a break.
Everyone’s like stepping in, stepping out.

[15:41] [Unknown] Right.

[15:42] [Ed] Tag team.
You’re in.

[15:44] [Phoebe] Right.
I will say even with the single couple play, people take breaks all the time.
Hey, you know, I need to get a rehydrate, rehydrate, bathroom, break, guys need to cool
down.
They’re working hard.
Band needs to come on.
Yeah.
A little snack break.
It happens all the time.
So it’s easy.

[16:07] [Ed] Half time rub down.

[16:08] [Phoebe] Yeah.
But I will say if you’re playing with another couple, just the four of you, you, I mean,
you really don’t have to clean up because it’s just you guys because there’s no one else
to like move to.

[16:22] [Ed] And you can, you can incorporate all of that in, like have some washcloths ready to go and
everybody can kind of clean up, get the lube off their fingers, that kind of stuff.

[16:30] [Phoebe] I have had.
Yeah.
I’ve had it.
People do that.

[16:34] [Ed] Yeah.

[16:35] [Phoebe] It’s nice.

[16:36] [Unknown] Sponge paths are sexy.

[16:37] [Phoebe] Yes.
We talked about antibiotics, making your vagina more acidic and can kill the good bacteria.

[16:42] [Ed] That’s right.
And antibiotics kill bacteria, period, that’s, that’s their whole purpose.
It’s like chemotherapy, it kills, fast growing cells, even your cells, not just the cancer
cells.
So antibiotics, they kill things.

[16:56] [Unknown] Yeah.

[16:58] [Phoebe] So dosing increases vaginal pH and encourages the growth of harmful bacteria, your menstrual
periods, blood is a, is a bit basic and will raise your pH, especially as the tampon or
pads it’s in place.
So you got to kind of be where that hormones, menopause and pregnancy changes that baths
and showers.
If you’re using a scented soap or bubble bath, you’re going to run into some issues.
I wouldn’t recommend it.
My gynecologist said stop, she even said stop using soap, period, just, don’t do it.
Water.
Yeah.
But I did that for a while, but then I was weirded out by that.
So I got, what is it, the good, good vibes, good looks, good, is it the good, clean love?
Good, clean love.
They have a feminine wash, it’s all pH balanced.
It’s great.
I’ve been using it for years.
I love it.
Big blue bottle.

[18:00] [Ed] Yeah.
It’s a tea tube thing in the shower.
It’s not a conditioner, don’t, don’t use it on your head.

[18:08] [Phoebe] No.
Fagginal sprays and deodorants, bad.
Scented detergents for undergarments, bad.
Bad.
Yeah.
So don’t be putting your underwear in the dryer with a dryer sheet.
The bounce.
Yeah.

[18:24] [Unknown] Scented.

[18:25] [Ed] Oh, no.
That’s, I don’t, I don’t want a forest fresh vagina.
No.
Or sea breeze.

[18:33] [Unknown] Or if it was vanilla though.

[18:36] [Phoebe] Yeah.
I would like the vanilla.
Yeah, I’d eat that.

[18:39] [Unknown] For sure.

[18:41] [Phoebe] Cigarettes can affect it and last year alcohols, sugars, refined carbs, even moderate use
can just throw that shit off.

[18:54] [Unknown] Right.
All right.

[19:01] [Ed] We need your help so that your community, the very one you love and have so much fun
with, can also find our show.
Here’s a really easy way to do that.
If you’re listening on Apple Podcasts or Spotify, hit that follow button and leave
us a rating.
If you’re watching on YouTube, subscribe and turn on notifications.
We can’t emphasize enough how much this helps the swing our community, and it truly is
up to you to make that happen.
It makes a massive difference in whether new listeners can even find us.
And here’s the thing, when someone searches Swinger Podcast, the algorithm doesn’t care
how good our content is or how long we’ve been around.
It only cares about ratings and reviews.
We’d appreciate it and your community will really appreciate it.

[19:55] [Unknown] Thanks for listening.

[20:01] [Ed] So here’s some items that can help your pH, at least theoretically, we’ll kind of go

[20:07] [Unknown] into some of that.

[20:10] [Ed] So probiotics and yogurt, you see the commercials all the time, probiotics, it’s good for your
lady parts.
Actually, I don’t think that’s the jingle.

[20:18] [Phoebe] No, it’s not.
But it would be more exciting if it was.

[20:24] [Ed] You want your vagina to be fresh?
Ooh, that’s a new product.
We should come out with Swinger yogurt.
If it worked, so I mean, not that people don’t buy things all the time that don’t work
or advertise things that don’t work.

[20:41] [Phoebe] My own doctor suggested some of this and then my friend, she claims the product that she
uses is on the shelf near the tampons at her local grocery store.
And I tried that product and had no success.
It was a probiotic, especially for this, I can’t remember the name of it.
I can’t remember either.
But it did nothing, absolutely nothing.

[21:12] [Ed] So mileage will vary.
I’m sure that some of this works for some people.

[21:18] [Phoebe] For others not.

[21:19] [Ed] For others not.

[21:20] [Unknown] Yeah.

[21:22] [Phoebe] Pumpkin seeds and sweet potatoes, they’ve got zinc and vitamin A and beta carotene.
All these things help.
The zinc will help normalize your cycle and regulate some of your hormones.
The vitamin A helps stop the spread of infection.
Beta carotene is a good antioxidant and prevents cell damage and encourages tissue growth.

[21:45] [Unknown] That’s always good.
Yes.

[21:49] [Phoebe] The other thing that I found that I do like and it did work is this product that I found
at Walmart and you can probably find it anywhere it’s called Queen V, V is Invictor.

[22:00] [Unknown] What’s the V stand for?

[22:02] [Phoebe] China.

[22:03] [Ed] Oh, that sounds nice.

[22:05] [Phoebe] Yes.

[22:06] [Ed] Or vulva.

[22:09] [Phoebe] I don’t really know.
But either way, it’s perfect.
I’ll take either one.
And it’s boric acid and it sounds obscene, like acid, ah, it’s just like a horror movie.
Right.
I’m like, I’m sticking acid in my vagina, but it’s this little capsule and you push it
up in your vagina and it helps fix your pH.
So if you’re off, this will bring it back into that natural balance and kind of help your
body.
Right.
You know, take care of anything that’s going on.

[22:42] [Ed] It basically alters the pH from being basic to being more acidic, which is really
healthy for the bacteria that are in your vagina.

[22:50] [Phoebe] Yep.
So it’s like a reset.

[22:52] [Ed] Yeah.
It’s creating an ecosystem where they can flourish.

[22:59] [Phoebe] Exactly.
That’s exactly what it is.
So, you know, you think maybe you slept with someone and had some BV or something else
is going on.
It doesn’t, you know, maybe right after your period, you know, you don’t smell this fresh.
You could pop one of those in and it puts your pH balance back in the right spot where
it needs to.

[23:23] [Unknown] All right.

[23:28] [Phoebe] How do we get rid of it?

[23:30] [Unknown] Well.

[23:31] [Ed] With patients.

[23:32] [Unknown] Yeah.

[23:33] [Phoebe] I mean, V could help if you’re like right on top of it and it all depends on you, like
where you’re at, you know, what your hormones are doing.
Are you in menopause?
Are you not in menopause or, you know, what’s going on?
Are you on antibiotics?
Whatever things are going on, it can help, but prescription medicine is really the big
guns and is going to take care of it.
There’s two products, the first one can be oral or vaginal and can be messy, you can’t
have sex for seven days if you’re doing the vaginal, if you’re taking it orally, you can’t

[24:17] [Unknown] have any alcohol and we keep learning out of pronounced this thing and we failed.

[24:26] [Ed] It’s a terrible name because it’s very difficult to pronounce, but I’m going to try it.
Metrodazole, metrodazole, metrodazole, metrodazole, but I like metrodazole.
Yeah, metrodazole is way cooler, right?

[24:46] [Phoebe] Doesn’t sound better.

[24:47] [Ed] And it’s perfect for a vagina.
It’s dazzle.

[24:50] [Unknown] It’s dazzle.

[24:51] [Ed] It’s like you got your, dazzle, the dazzle.
But dazzled.

[24:55] [Phoebe] Dazzle, the dazzle.

[24:56] [Unknown] In metrostation, I don’t know, that means it’s a New York thing, I don’t know.

[25:03] [Phoebe] And then you have your clindamycin, also can be messy, you know, no sex for seven days.
Although we did a couple times, I couldn’t take it anymore, so like on day six or seven,
I’m like, just put a condom on so you don’t get the medicine all over you because I have
to have you.

[25:22] [Ed] Yeah.
It’s a rough job, but somebody’s got to do it.

[25:29] [Phoebe] So it works, but it’s, you know, it’s a frustrating thing to deal with.

[25:33] [Ed] So we’ve been talking about B.V. and how it has a particular odor to it, and it’s
not exactly a fresh smell, but the converse of that, the converse, that the inverse
of a B.V. vagina is not a odorless vagina.

[25:54] [Unknown] Correct.

[25:56] [Ed] Your vagina should smell and taste like something, it shouldn’t taste like a freshly
cleaned countertop or something where it’s just completely tasteless.

[26:08] [Unknown] Yeah.

[26:11] [Phoebe] It should taste like something.
Yeah.
And a healthy pH-balanced vagina is more likely to have a slightly metallic taste
indicating its acidity, which I find is fascinating.

[26:30] [Ed] And I mean, who doesn’t like the taste of a nice healthy vagina?

[26:35] [Phoebe] Well, yeah.
Of course.
I mean, I love the taste of my vagina, especially when it’s on your face.

[26:42] [Ed] Oh, yeah.

[26:43] [Unknown] I love the taste of your vagina on my face, too.

[26:47] [Ed] Especially when I’ve got like a mustache or a dirty, and I can, I can kind of save it
for hours.
The next thing.

[26:53] [Phoebe] Yeah.
A breakfast, and you’re like coffee and the vagina from last night.

[26:59] [Ed] Hmm.
Nothing like pussy in the morning.
Yes.

[27:03] [Unknown] I think these foods will reduce your other non-BV related odors.

[27:09] [Ed] So there’s things that you can eat that will either help your flavor, or in this particular
case, hurt your flavor.
So asparagus, broccoli, and onions, probably things like garlic, not the best things for sexy
time.
So probably avoid them a couple days before you go and play.

[27:32] [Phoebe] Exactly.
Your spouse may probably more forgiving, but your new play couple, maybe avoid those.

[27:41] [Ed] Yeah.
And you know, some of the foods that tend to provide a nice taste to them, things like
pineapple.
Oh, yeah.

[27:52] [Unknown] Mm-hmm.

[27:53] [Ed] And we’ve heard that for not only vaginal taste, but also for semen, so pineapple, not
a bad thing to have 24 hours before.

[28:03] [Phoebe] Yep.
24, probably, yeah, even 48 hours.
I think it takes like two days to get your system.
There you go.

[28:11] [Unknown] Start eating up.

[28:12] [Ed] Eat a little pineapple.
Something tropical with your mouth.

[28:16] [Unknown] All right.

[28:18] [Phoebe] So everyone’s dangling them out like you’re in the situation.
You’re in a play situation.
How the hell do you get out of it?
What happens?
Like you smell it.

[28:27] [Unknown] And then what?

[28:30] [Phoebe] You’re in a group play situation, right?

[28:33] [Unknown] You kind of described a little bit of it earlier.

[28:37] [Phoebe] Easiest way is to just kind of wiggle out of it, move to a different partner, happens all
the time, share the love, right?
With somebody else.

[28:49] [Ed] Yep.
Get up to get a drink or something.
Oh, I’ll be right back.
Get a drink.
And when you come back, you just-

[28:55] [Phoebe] Go to somebody else.
Go to a different flower.
That’s right.
Because you’re the bee.

[29:01] [Unknown] Or a butterfly.

[29:04] [Phoebe] Just be mindful, though, of who that new partner was with.
Because if they were just with the partner you left, then they’re not going to be safe

[29:15] [Unknown] either.

[29:16] [Ed] Right.
So I’m picturing three-card Monty, the card game that they play out on the street corners
to kind of hustle you out of money.
So it’s like-
Take it, take it, take it.
But it’s with pussies.

[29:26] [Unknown] So they’re like, swapping pussies.

[29:28] [Ed] You got a guess where the BV went.

[29:30] [Phoebe] Yeah.
Not exciting.

[29:32] [Ed] Yeah, it’s not a good game.
No, it’s not a good game.
You’re probably going to lose that one.

[29:35] [Phoebe] Yeah.

[29:36] [Unknown] So one time, no, Ed and I were playing with this group and we decided that probably no one

[29:47] [Phoebe] was safe.
Yeah.
And so, you know, basically what we did was we played with ourselves and we got to watch
some really hot sex.
We got to participate in other ways that didn’t include penetration.
Right.
You know, you have fingers, right, and you can touch and probe and this and so, I mean,
we still had a great time and no one was offended and there was plenty to go around.
So it was, it was easy to navigate.

[30:20] [Ed] Good time was had by all.

[30:22] [Phoebe] It was.

[30:23] [Unknown] It was.
Now single couple plays a little trickier because you’ve only got one other couple.

[30:32] [Ed] You can’t avoid them all night.
It’s just awkward, especially when they’re in your living room.
Right.

[30:37] [Unknown] And they’re high.
Where did they go?

[30:39] [Ed] I don’t know.

[30:40] [Unknown] Right.

[30:41] [Ed] So.
Are they coming back?
Yeah.
They’re in the bathroom a really long time.
So, ask to take a break and, you know, this is probably a good conversation between the
women.
Yeah.
It will come, it will be less awkward if it’s a woman having this discussion.
Yes.
And then the husband, it can be awkward no matter how you try and spell it out, but it’s
just being honest and we’ve never tried this, we’ve never done this.
I don’t think we’ve had this situation personally, but I can imagine it happening.
So we’re trying to do the hypothetical here.

[31:25] [Phoebe] Right.
You know, and my best advice is, you know, delivering your messages, compassionate as you can and really
make it about you and your issue and needing to stay BV free because it is about you and
your health and you’re standing up for yourself.
And I mean, yeah, it’s unfortunate that that your play partner, she has BV, she may not
know it.
Maybe her nose can’t detect it, you know, it’s not her fault.
I mean, it’s annoying and, you know, have compassion for her situation.
She didn’t like knowingly step into the room, going, yeah, you know, I mean have some

[32:00] [Ed] of this.

[32:01] [Phoebe] Right.
So you have to be really sensitive, you know, towards her because it can, it can be embarrassing.

[32:12] [Ed] And I am, I am absolutely positive that a lot of women are not even aware of what is going
on with their bodies, their vaginal health.

[32:23] [Phoebe] Some know, maybe I don’t know.
Some do, some don’t.
I mean, we just watched the show the other day, the lady didn’t even know she was pregnant
until seven months.

[32:30] [Ed] Seven months.

[32:32] [Phoebe] I mean, in real life, for real legit, I was like, wow, that’s crazy.

[32:37] [Ed] It happens.
And I mean, this is stuff that if you hadn’t heard it in a podcast, you may not have heard
about it.
Right.

[32:46] [Unknown] You just thought it was, I have a stinky, but it’s fixable.

[32:54] [Phoebe] It is fixable.

[32:55] [Unknown] And, you know, maybe, maybe you could say, I want to let you know that I’ve had BB several

[33:09] [Phoebe] times before, I don’t have any more, but I recognize the pH imbalance in other women.
Do you think you might have it?
And then you can kind of navigate through the conversation there and then say, well,
you know, I don’t know if I want to take that risk tonight.
I’d love to, I’d love, you know, to play with you guys again, or we could do something

[33:34] [Unknown] else this evening, you know, Ed could always, well, you’re with, you have a condom, but

[33:44] [Phoebe] there’s still kind of that risk of, you’d have to wash up really good.
Right.
Afterwards.
Right.
And I probably wouldn’t, you do anyway, we practice that actually.
You always wash up before you ever have sex with me after you’ve been with somebody else.
You wash really good.

[34:02] [Ed] It’s, it’s just a good habit.

[34:04] [Phoebe] Yeah.
So, all right, everyone.
Your body is an amazing organism that fights off attacks all day long.
So don’t stop having sex with others, but be mindful of the risks and the health of

[34:21] [Unknown] your body.

[34:22] [Phoebe] You may not get BB in the playroom on the first night swinging with others on the cruise,
but by day five, seven, you might, why, oh, let’s see, eight different partners in their
bacteria, five different lubes, condoms with spermicide dehydration from being in the pool

[34:39] [Unknown] all day and drinking lack of sleep gives you reduced immunity, not eating what you normally

[34:47] [Phoebe] eat drinking all day long.
You get the picture, right?

[34:52] [Ed] So drink less, drink more water, take naps and eat your veggies.

[34:59] [Phoebe] You put that in there.
I did.

[35:02] [Unknown] That’s funny.

[35:03] [Phoebe] The whiff test is easy to perform and easy to wiggle out of sex with another couple, especially
if it isn’t one on one.
And if it is, again, be mindful and compassionate with the communication you deliver.
